How to Setup 2FA/Authenticator
If you are new or you have a new phone, you will need to setup 2-factor authentication before you can log in to your emails. This requires a computer as well as your phone. If you have setup 2FA on a previous phone, please contact IT as we will need to reset it for your account first.
If you need your Bamboo authentication reset, please contact The People Team. For Arbor, please contact Sarah Hartley. IT do not have administrative control over these two systems and can't do this for you. Once they have been reset, the general process of setting them up is very similar to the below.
The following guide will help you setup authentication for your work email/Tracker account.
1. On your phone:
- Download the 'Microsoft Authenticator' app from your phone's app store.

2. On your computer:
- Follow this link to login to your company email.
- Enter your email and password.

- If you're not at a care home/school, please skip to "3. On your computer", further down. If you are at a care home/school, continue with the guide from here.
- Click on your name in the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
- Click 'View account'.

- Click 'UPDATE INFO' under 'Security info'.

- Click '+ Add sign-in method'.
- Choose 'Authenticator app' from the drop-down menu that appears.

3. On your computer:
- Click 'Next' twice until it shows you a QR code.

4. On your phone:
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Select 'Scan QR Code' (if you don't have this option on opening the app, press + at the top of the screen and select 'Work or school account').
- Please make sure you allow the app to use your camera and to send notifications as it will not work without these permissions.
- Scan the QR code that is provided on the computer with your phone.
5. On your computer:
- Now that the QR code has been scanned, click 'Next'. It will now show a 2-digit code.
6. On your phone:
- You will receive a notification. Please enter the 2-digit code from above and press 'Approve'.
7. On your computer:
- It will register that you have approved the login request. You can now click 'Finished'.
8. On your phone:
- The setup is complete so you can now install the Microsoft Outlook app and log in to your emails on your phone.
- For your first login, it will send you another notification to approve. Please pay attention to the 2-digit code it shows you as the notification you need to enter it in will appear over it (you can press 'I can't see my code' to minimise the notification temporarily so you can see the number again).
If you are confused or need assistance for setting up 2FA, please contact IT.
